The Telangana government has presented a Budget of ₹3.24 lakh crore for the financial year 2026–27, with a strong focus on welfare schemes and development projects. The Budget was introduced in the Assembly by Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
A major part of the Budget has been set aside for welfare programmes. The government has increased spending on schemes for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and minority communities. These funds are aimed at improving living conditions and providing financial support to weaker sections of society.
The government has also announced some new initiatives. One of the key schemes is a life insurance programme that will provide ₹5 lakh coverage to families. There are also plans to improve facilities for students, including better food programmes in schools.
Along with welfare, the government is focusing on building infrastructure. More money has been allocated for roads, irrigation projects and urban development. Rural areas are expected to benefit from improved road connectivity, while irrigation projects will support farmers by ensuring better water supply.
In cities, especially Hyderabad, the government plans to invest in metro rail expansion, road projects and other urban improvements. These steps are aimed at supporting the city’s rapid growth and making travel easier for people.
The energy sector is another area of focus. The government plans to improve power supply, continue subsidies for farmers and invest in renewable energy projects. This is expected to help both agriculture and long-term energy needs.
The Budget estimates that the state will earn around ₹2.41 lakh crore, while the fiscal deficit is expected to be about ₹58,000 crore. The government plans to manage this gap through borrowings and better revenue collection.
