Riyan Parag fined after vaping during IPL match

RR captain penalised for breaching conduct rules in PBKS clash

Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has been fined after he was seen vaping during an IPL match against Punjab Kings.

The incident happened during the IPL 2026 game when cameras caught him using a vape in the dressing room area. The clip quickly spread on social media and drew criticism from fans.

Following a review, the BCCI found Parag guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. He has been fined 25% of his match fee and given one demerit point.

Officials said the act falls under behaviour that brings the game into disrepute. Parag accepted the decision and did not challenge the charge.

The incident has also sparked discussion about player discipline, especially since he is the captain of Rajasthan Royals and is expected to lead by example.

While no suspension has been issued, the penalty serves as a warning. Further violations could lead to stricter action in future matches.

The episode has shifted some attention away from cricket and added off-field scrutiny to the team’s campaign.
