Google releases Pixel update for May

New patch fixes charging, display and camera bugs on Pixel phones

Google has started rolling out its May 2026 software update for Pixel smartphones, bringing bug fixes, security improvements and performance upgrades across supported devices.

The latest update fixes several issues reported by users over the past few months. One of the major fixes addresses slow wireless charging on some Pixel devices, especially when battery levels crossed 75%. Users had complained that charging speeds dropped significantly during that stage.

Google has also fixed display-related problems, including screen flickering, freezing and visual glitches seen on certain Pixel phones. The company said the update improves overall system stability and smoothness.

Another key fix targets camera issues on some Pixel 10 models, where the camera app reportedly froze while recording videos or changing zoom settings. The update is expected to improve camera performance and responsiveness.

Along with bug fixes, the May update includes Android security patches aimed at improving device protection. Pixel 10 series devices are also receiving a new anti-rollback bootloader feature, which prevents users from downgrading to older Android versions after updating.

The update is rolling out in phases and may take a few days to reach all eligible devices. Users can manually check for the update through system settings.

Tech reports suggest this release is an important “bridge update” ahead of Android 17, helping prepare Pixel devices for future software upgrades.
