Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is reportedly set to portray Lord Shiva in a large-scale film adaptation of Amish Tripathi’s bestselling novel The Immortals of Meluha, part of the widely popular Shiva Trilogy.
The project is being developed as a three-film franchise by Birla Studios, with early-stage work focused on adapting the books into a cinematic universe. The trilogy is expected to bring one of India’s most successful mythological fiction series to the big screen with a strong emphasis on scale, visual effects, and world-building.
The original novel, published in 2010, presents a fictional retelling of Lord Shiva’s journey, portraying him as a human tribal leader from the Himalayas whose actions and choices eventually elevate him to divine status in mythology. The book has gained a massive readership over the years and has often been considered a strong candidate for film adaptation due to its cinematic narrative style.
According to reports, Ranveer Singh has been approached for the central role and is likely to play Shiva across the trilogy. He is also said to be involved in the project in a creative or production capacity, although this has not been officially confirmed.
