China agrees to buy 200 Boeing Jets deal

Initial deal for 200 aircraft could grow to 750 as US-China ties show signs of improvement

China has agreed to buy 200 Boeing aircraft in a deal announced by US President Donald Trump, with the possibility of increasing the order to as many as 750 planes later. The agreement is being seen as an important step for Boeing and a signal of improving trade relations between the United States and China.

The initial order includes aircraft fitted with GE Aerospace engines, although details such as the specific aircraft models, delivery timelines, and airlines involved have not yet been made public. For Boeing, the announcement is significant as it could help the company strengthen its position in China after years of slower business activity in the country.

China remains one of the world’s largest aviation markets, and Boeing had faced challenges there in recent years amid trade tensions and competition from European rival Airbus. The latest deal could mark a fresh opening for the American aircraft maker.

However, the size of the order was smaller than what some market analysts had expected. Earlier industry estimates suggested that China could place orders for around 500 aircraft or more during ongoing trade discussions. Investors reacted cautiously, with Boeing shares reportedly coming under pressure following the announcement.
