Airtel rolls out priority postpaid 5G plans

New plans offer priority network access, faster speeds, and lower congestion using 5G slicing technology

Bharti Airtel has launched its new “Priority Postpaid” plans, introducing 5G network slicing technology to improve connectivity quality for postpaid users across India. The service is designed to deliver a more stable and consistent mobile experience, especially during times of heavy network usage.

With 5G slicing, Airtel can divide its network into virtual segments and assign priority capacity to specific users. In this case, postpaid customers are placed on a higher-priority slice, helping them get smoother internet speeds, lower delays, and fewer disruptions even in crowded areas such as offices, stadiums, or city centres.

The company said the new service is aimed at users who depend heavily on mobile internet for work, entertainment, and communication. It will automatically be available for existing Airtel postpaid customers, while prepaid users can switch to postpaid plans through the Airtel app or retail stores.

Airtel has introduced multiple pricing tiers under the Priority Postpaid category. Entry-level plans start at around ₹449 per month, while higher plans offer additional benefits such as OTT subscriptions, unlimited calling, data rollover, and roaming features. Premium plans also bundle services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, and other digital platforms.

The telecom operator said the rollout is part of its broader push to monetise its 5G standalone network infrastructure and improve customer experience through advanced technologies. Airtel is currently expanding its 5G SA (standalone) network across India, which is required to enable slicing capabilities at scale.
