Spotify unveils new playlist features

New update brings folders, bulk editing and easier music organisation

Music streaming platform Spotify has announced a major update that gives users more control over how they organise and manage their music libraries. The update introduces playlist folders on mobile devices, along with new bulk editing tools and enhanced playlist management features.

One of the most anticipated additions is playlist folders, a feature that allows users to group playlists into customised categories. Whether organising playlists by genre, mood, activity or artist, listeners can now keep their collections more structured and easier to navigate directly from the mobile app.

Until now, playlist folders were primarily available through desktop versions of the platform. By bringing the feature to mobile devices, Spotify is responding to one of the most common requests from users who manage large numbers of playlists.

The update also introduces bulk editing options. Users can now select multiple tracks at once to move, remove or reorganise them within playlists. This eliminates the need to edit songs individually and makes maintaining playlists significantly faster.

The update comes as streaming platforms compete to improve personalisation and user experience. Playlist creation and curation have become increasingly important features, with many listeners building extensive collections for different occasions and moods.

Spotify has also redesigned parts of the playlist interface to improve navigation. The company says the changes are intended to help users spend less time managing their music libraries and more time listening to content they enjoy.
