A routine journey to school turned tragic on Friday morning after a passenger train rammed into a school van at a railway level crossing in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, killing two students and leaving several others injured. The Murshidabad train accident occurred near the Karnasubarna railway crossing on the Azimganj-Katwa railway section when the school van, carrying children to school, was crossing the tracks. According to officials, the train struck the vehicle with tremendous force, dragging it several metres and leaving it badly mangled.
Soon after the collision, local residents rushed to the spot and began rescuing the trapped children before police, railway personnel and emergency services arrived.
