A man allegedly killed his two daughters at a hotel near Kempegowda International Airport before attempting suicide, in a case that has shocked Bengaluru.
The accused, identified as S G Imran, was found seriously injured inside the hotel room on Monday. His daughters, Shaik Zehara and Shaik Zoya, were found dead. Police suspect the children were strangled. Imran allegedly slit his throat and was rushed to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
The incident surfaced after hotel staff became concerned when the occupants did not respond to repeated knocks. Imran had reportedly checked into the hotel with his daughters the previous evening. When there was no response the following day, staff eventually entered the room and alerted the police.
Investigators recovered a note from the room that may offer clues about the circumstances preceding the deaths. According to police, the note referred to marital problems and alleged that Imran suspected his wife of having an affair. The allegation has not been independently established and is being examined as part of the investigation.
The note reportedly suggested that Imran was distressed about the future of his daughters and did not want them to grow up in circumstances he feared would follow the breakdown of his marriage. Police are trying to establish whether the contents reflect the events that led to the killings or were written during a period of emotional distress.
Imran, who reportedly worked as a manager with a private cab company, lived in Bengaluru. Investigators are examining his family circumstances, recent interactions and movements before he arrived at the hotel.
The police investigation will focus on establishing a clear timeline. CCTV footage from the property, hotel booking records, electronic devices, phone data and forensic evidence are expected to help reconstruct the events inside the room.
The post-mortem examinations of the two girls will also determine the precise cause of death and provide investigators with further evidence. Police are awaiting forensic findings as they work to establish how and when the children died.
Since Imran survived the alleged suicide attempt, his statement could become an important part of the case. Investigators are expected to question him once doctors certify that he is medically fit. His account could help clarify what happened between the family’s arrival at the hotel and the discovery of the bodies.
Police are treating the incident as a suspected double murder followed by an attempted suicide. However, the motive has not been conclusively established.
The reference to an alleged affair in the note is therefore being treated as an investigative lead rather than a confirmed fact. Police are also looking into whether there had been any recent confrontation or other circumstances that could have contributed to the tragedy.
The deaths of the two children have brought renewed attention to the devastating consequences of unresolved family conflict. In this case, investigators are examining both the immediate circumstances at the hotel and the wider events in the family’s life that may have preceded the incident.
Further details are expected after the forensic examination and once the accused is able to speak to investigators. Police will then determine the next course of action based on the evidence gathered.
