In a historic ceremony at Gandhi Maidan on November 20, Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 10th time, setting a new record in the state’s political history. The event saw the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J.P. Nadda, and several senior NDA leaders.
The oath-taking comes after the NDA’s landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, securing 202 of 243 seats. JD(U) won 85 seats and BJP 89, while alliance partners LJP (RV) and HAM-S also gained representation.
Deputy CMs and Cabinet Composition
The NDA retained Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha as Deputy Chief Ministers. Reports indicate the new cabinet will include 18–22 ministers, with representation from JD(U), BJP, LJP (RV), HAM-S, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
Returning ministers include Prem Kumar, Mangal Pandey, Nitish Mishra, and Renu Devi, while new entrants are expected to be Anand Mishra, Rana Randhir, and Gayatri Devi. The cabinet has been carefully balanced to ensure both caste and regional representation.
Leaders Speak on Bihar Oath Ceremony
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said he was committed to serving the people of Bihar, adding that his oath reflects the faith of millions of Biharis. “From Gandhi Maidan, our voice of development will be heard across the state,” he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed gratitude to his party for the trust placed in him and pledged to meet the expectations of the people.
His fellow Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha highlighted public support for the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Nitish Kumar, noting, “This victory is for Bihar’s youth, farmers, and women.”
HAM-S leader Jitan Ram Manjhi called the occasion historic and pointed out the role of women voters in the NDA’s success, saying the strong turnout made it clear that the coalition would cross 200 seats.
Security for the ceremony was tight, with over 2,500 personnel deployed, 128 CCTV cameras installed, and snipers stationed on nearby buildings to ensure the safety of dignitaries and attendees.
