Vijay labels DMK ‘evil’, promotes TVK option

Actor and politician Vijay strongly criticised the ruling DMK at a public rally in Erode on Thursday. He called the DMK an “evil force” and said his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is a “pure force” that works for the people.

This was Vijay’s first big public meeting after the Karur stampede in September, where 41 people lost their lives during a TVK event. Extra security and strict crowd control were in place at the rally.

Vijay said the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election would be a fight between good and bad politics. He accused the DMK government of failing to maintain law and order and of not doing enough for farmers, women, and rural areas. He also said the government had not kept many of its promises related to jobs and welfare schemes.

Speaking to supporters, Vijay asked people to come together to bring positive change in the state. He referred to Erode’s farming history and local irrigation projects to connect with the audience. He also spoke about leaders like Periyar, M.G. Ramachandran, and Jayalalithaa, saying their ideas were meant for the welfare of the people, not for any single party.

The rally also showed TVK’s efforts to grow as a political party. Former AIADMK leader K.A. Sengottaiyan shared the stage with Vijay, indicating that TVK is trying to strengthen its presence, especially in western Tamil Nadu.

With this rally, Vijay made it clear that TVK plans to play a serious role in the 2026 elections. His speech marked a sharper political stand against the DMK and signalled his intention to position TVK as a people-focused choice for voters looking for change.
