Presley Gerber, the model and only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at the age of 27.

Gerber died on Sunday, September 20, at a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. His death was confirmed by a representative for his family. The cause of death has not been disclosed, and an autopsy was still pending in the latest reports.

His family has asked for privacy as they deal with the loss.

“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” Allie Jenkins, a representative for Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, said in a statement.

Presley was the eldest child of Crawford and Rande Gerber and the older brother of model and actor Kaia Gerber. He grew up in one of the best-known families in fashion, but eventually created a career of his own as a model.

He was signed by IMG Models at 15 and made his runway debut the following year at Moschino’s Resort show in Los Angeles. He went on to work with major fashion names including Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Celine, Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren.

His early career often brought him into the spotlight alongside his famous family. In 2018, he appeared with his mother in a Pepsi campaign that revisited elements of Crawford’s much-remembered 1992 Super Bowl advertisement.

Presley also shared the fashion world with his younger sister Kaia, who followed their mother into modelling and later expanded her career into acting.

Behind the photographs and runway appearances, however, Presley had been open about difficult personal experiences. In interviews and social media posts, he spoke about depression, mental health and addiction, using his own experiences to encourage people to talk more openly about struggles that are often kept private.

In 2023, Presley spoke about his mental health during an appearance on the Studio 22 podcast. He described mental health as a major part of his life and said he hoped that speaking about his experiences could help others who were going through similar difficulties.

He later launched a social media initiative called “Mental Health Mondays”, encouraging conversations around men’s mental health. In a post in November 2025, he wrote about taking time away to look after his own mental health and said he wanted to keep the conversation around openness and healing going.

His struggles also became a subject of discussion within the family. In a recent interview with Vogue, Kaia spoke about her brother’s long struggle with addiction and how it affected the family. She described Presley as someone who had become unusually open about his experiences, even though the family had traditionally kept their private lives away from public attention.

Cindy Crawford had continued to celebrate her son publicly. In July, she marked Presley’s 27th birthday with photographs from his childhood and wrote about how proud she was of the man he had become while still seeing him as her little boy.

Presley’s death has now brought renewed attention to a young man who lived much of his life in the shadow of one of fashion’s most recognisable names, while also trying to speak honestly about his own struggles.

His death comes as his family asks the public to respect their privacy. With the medical examiner’s investigation continuing, no cause of death has been announced.

For many who followed his career, Presley Gerber will be remembered not only as Cindy Crawford’s son, but also as a model who built his own place in fashion and a young man who chose to speak publicly about mental health and recovery.
