Ex-trustee questioned in Ram temple theft probe

CCTV footage, assets and finances under scrutiny in donation theft investigation

The investigation into the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has gathered pace, with a former temple trustee,Anil Mishra, coming under the scanner as Uttar Pradesh Police expand their probe into the case.

Investigators are examining whether Anil Mishra had any role in the alleged misappropriation of funds donated by devotees. Police are scrutinising financial records, bank transactions and property details to determine if any assets acquired by those under suspicion are disproportionate to their known sources of income.

Officials are also analysing CCTV footage from the temple premises to reconstruct the sequence of events. Investigators suspect that those involved may have deliberately avoided surveillance cameras while handling donation collections. The footage is expected to play a crucial role in identifying the movement of suspects and verifying their involvement.

The alleged theft has raised serious concerns as the Ram Temple receives donations from thousands of devotees every day. Police believe the suspected irregularities may have continued over a period of time and are investigating whether more people were involved in the operation.

Along with the former trustee, several others connected to the management and handling of temple donations are being questioned. Authorities have not ruled out further action as the investigation progresses and more evidence emerges.

The police are also reviewing the temple’s donation collection and accounting system to identify any loopholes that may have allowed funds to be diverted. Officials say stronger safeguards could be introduced to improve transparency and prevent similar incidents in the future.

The case has drawn widespread public attention, with devotees expressing concern over the alleged misuse of money offered in faith.
