Google brings Gemini AI to Android

Gemini Intelligence aims to make Android devices more personalised and interactive

Google on Tuesday announced a major expansion of its artificial intelligence technology, introducing Gemini Intelligence for Android devices and unveiling a new AI-first laptop platform called GoogleBook.

The announcements were made at the company’s Android Show 2026 event as Google showcased its vision of making AI a central part of everyday digital life.

Gemini Intelligence is designed to work across Android apps and services, helping users complete tasks through simple voice or text instructions. Google said the assistant can understand conversations better, summarise content, suggest replies and organise information more efficiently.

The company also introduced GoogleBook, a new category of laptops built specifically for AI-driven experiences. During the presentation, Google demonstrated tools that allow users to draft documents, search files, manage schedules and edit images with AI assistance.

Google said several features will run directly on devices to improve speed, privacy and security.

With Gemini Intelligence and GoogleBook, Google is positioning AI as the next major step in the evolution of Android and personal computing.

The latest announcements come as global tech companies race to integrate AI into consumer products. Experts say Google is focusing on making AI more deeply connected to everyday smartphone and laptop usage rather than offering it as a standalone tool.

While release dates for all products have not yet been announced, Google said more updates will be shared during its annual Google I/O event later this month.
