India reaffirms tough stand on terror, PM Modi

ndia marks Pahalgam attack anniversary with tributes and strong anti-terror message from PM and Army

India marked the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack with solemn tributes and strong messages from national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who said the country will never bow to terrorism in any form. The attack last year had killed 26 people, most of them tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir’s scenic Pahalgam area.

In his message, PM Modi remembered the victims and expressed solidarity with their families. He said the pain of the attack is still felt across the country, but it has only strengthened India’s resolve to fight terrorism. He added that those behind such acts will never succeed in breaking the spirit of the nation.

The Indian Army also issued a firm statement on the occasion, saying India remains fully prepared to respond to any act of terror. It stressed that the country does not forget such attacks and continues to take strong action against those responsible. Officials referred to past operations against terror networks as examples of India’s clear and decisive approach.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also reiterated the government’s stand, warning that those trying to harm India’s security will face serious consequences. His remarks reinforced the message that India follows a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.

The 2025 Pahalgam attack, carried out by Pakistan-based terror groups, had shocked the nation and led to intensified security operations in Jammu and Kashmir. Since then, security forces have increased surveillance and counter-terror measures in the region.

On the anniversary, tributes poured in from across the country. Leaders from different political parties and citizens paid homage to the victims, remembering the lives lost and supporting their families. Many messages focused on unity and the need to stand together against violence and extremism.

The United States and other international partners also expressed solidarity with India, condemning the attack and supporting efforts to combat terrorism.
