Mojtaba Khamenei has delivered a strong message against the United States, saying a “new chapter” is beginning in the Gulf region as tensions continue to rise.
In a recent statement, he criticised the US for what he described as a failure in its approach towards Iran. He also stressed that Iran would firmly protect its interests in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important routes for oil transport.
Khamenei said the future of the Gulf should be shaped by countries in the region, not by outside powers like the US. He added that foreign military presence in the area is unnecessary and should end.
The remarks come at a time of heightened tensions between Iran and the US, with both sides taking strong positions. The situation has raised concerns globally, especially because any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could affect oil supplies and push up prices.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has continued to maintain pressure on Iran, warning of further action if the country does not change its stance on key issues.
Despite calls for calm, there has been little progress in reducing tensions so far. Experts say the situation remains delicate, with the risk of further escalation if both sides continue to hold firm positions.
