Motorola has unveiled the Signature 27, its latest premium smartphone, with a focus on camera performance, artificial intelligence and high-end processing power. The phone was showcased at the Snapdragon Summit 2026 and is among the first smartphones announced with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset.

The Signature 27 is the second smartphone in Motorola’s Signature series. The company has also introduced a new naming approach with the device, using the final two digits of the upcoming year for its premium smartphone generations.

Motorola has not yet announced the price or exact sale date of the Signature 27. The company says the phone will be launched globally later this year. Details about its availability in India and other individual markets are also yet to be confirmed.

The biggest talking point is the camera system. The Motorola Signature 27 gets a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 910 main camera along with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. The combination is designed to give users better detail in regular photographs as well as long-distance shots.

Motorola has also added an AI-powered Video Enhancement Engine. The feature analyses a scene before and during video recording and adjusts colour tones in real time. This is aimed at making video recording easier for users who want improved results without manually changing camera settings.

The phone’s processor is another major upgrade. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is designed to improve performance across gaming, camera processing, on-device AI and connectivity. Motorola is positioning the Signature 27 as a flagship smartphone built for demanding workloads rather than everyday use alone.

Keeping that performance under control is a new version of Motorola’s ArcticMesh cooling system. The company says it combines diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal and copper mesh with a redesigned 3D vapour chamber. The new vapour chamber is claimed to be 40% larger than the previous generation, helping the phone manage heat during intensive tasks.

AI is another major part of the new Motorola phone. The Signature 27 supports Google’s Gemini Omni, which can use prompts, photographs or existing video clips to create finished videos. Google’s Lyria can also be used to generate music and soundtracks, giving users more tools for creating content directly on the smartphone.

Motorola is also paying attention to audio. The Signature 27 is the first Motorola smartphone to feature Audio by Bang & Olufsen. The B&O branding is placed on the rear of the handset, marking a new partnership for the company’s premium smartphone range.

The design has also received an update. The phone features an aluminium silhouette with contoured edges and a distinctive camera panel. Motorola will offer the device in Pantone Coal Smoke and Pantone Capulet Green. The Coal Smoke version has a woven texture designed to improve grip, while the Capulet Green model uses a brushed, textile-inspired finish.

Software support is another area where Motorola is making a significant change. The Signature 27 is expected to launch with Android 17, and Motorola has promised seven years of operating system upgrades. The longer support period brings the company’s premium smartphone closer to the extended software-support commitments now seen across the flagship Android market.

Motorola, however, has kept several important specifications under wraps. The company has not yet confirmed the phone’s display details, battery capacity, charging speeds, RAM and storage options, or the complete camera setup. Pricing and the precise commercial launch date are also still pending.

That means some of the most important details for buyers are yet to come. Battery life, charging speed, storage and pricing will determine how the Signature 27 compares with other upcoming flagship smartphones.

The device is expected to compete in a busy premium smartphone market, where camera capabilities, AI features, processor performance and long-term software support are becoming increasingly important. The 200MP periscope camera, new Snapdragon processor, enhanced cooling and seven-year software commitment give Motorola several headline features to build its flagship pitch around.
