Iran ahows US warship standoff video

Tehran releases footage of IRGC warning in Strait of Hormuz

Iran has released a video showing a tense naval confrontation between its forces and a US warship in the Strait of Hormuz, further escalating already high tensions in the region.

The footage, shared by Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, reportedly shows personnel from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy issuing a direct warning to a US Navy destroyer, identified as the USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. In the video, Iranian forces can be heard instructing the vessel to “alter course” and “go back,” describing the message as a “last warning” before possible action.

According to the Iranian account, the US warship was told to immediately change direction and return toward the Indian Ocean. The warning reportedly included a threat that the vessel would be targeted if it did not comply.

The incident comes amid reports that two US guided-missile destroyers transited the Strait of Hormuz as part of ongoing naval operations in the region. The United States has stated that its naval activity is linked to efforts to ensure maritime security and, in some cases, to support mine-clearing operations in the strategically vital waterway.

Iran, however, has disputed aspects of the US version of events, claiming it challenged or deterred the passage of American vessels. The newly released video has been presented by Iranian media as evidence of its naval forces asserting control and issuing operational warnings in the strait.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important oil transit routes, with a significant share of global petroleum shipments passing through it. The area has become a flashpoint amid heightened military activity, with both US and Iranian forces increasing their presence in and around the waterway.
