India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval held important meetings in Riyadh as India and Saudi Arabia moved to strengthen their growing partnership and discuss the security situation in West Asia.
During the visit, Doval met several senior Saudi leaders, including Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Saudi National Security Adviser Musaed Al-Aiban. He was also welcomed by Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Saud Al-Sati, who previously served as Saudi ambassador to India.
According to official statements, the talks focused on bilateral cooperation, regional developments and issues of shared concern. The meetings are seen as part of regular high-level engagement between the two countries, which have expanded ties in recent years.
The timing of the visit is significant, with tensions continuing across West Asia and concerns over stability in the Gulf region. For India, developments in the area are especially important because a large share of its oil imports comes from Gulf countries. Any disruption to shipping routes or energy supplies could affect prices and trade.
India and Saudi Arabia have steadily built stronger ties in areas such as energy, investment, defence and security cooperation. Both countries have also increased diplomatic coordination on regional and global matters.
Although no major agreements were announced after the meetings, the visit is being viewed as an important diplomatic step during a sensitive period. It highlights India’s efforts to stay closely engaged with key Gulf partners while protecting its strategic and economic interests.
