The United States has announced the end of its bombing campaign against Iran, called “Operation Epic Fury,” after 66 days of military action.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the operation’s main objectives have been achieved. The campaign, carried out with Israel, targeted Iran’s military infrastructure, including missile systems and air defence sites.
Officials said the decision marks the end of active airstrikes and a shift toward a more defensive and diplomatic approach. The focus will now move to regional stability and maritime security, especially in key shipping routes.
President Donald Trump also indicated that a related naval mission had been paused to allow space for possible diplomatic talks with Iran. He said the pause followed international calls for de-escalation.
While bombing operations have stopped, US forces will still maintain a presence in the region to monitor tensions and protect shipping lanes. The Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil route, remains a sensitive area due to past disruptions during the conflict.
US officials claim the campaign weakened Iran’s military capabilities, but the broader situation in the region remains tense. Sporadic incidents and mistrust continue between the two sides.
