Apple has started rolling out the public beta version of iOS 27, giving iPhone users an early chance to try new features before the software’s official release later this year. The update introduces a redesigned interface, smarter artificial intelligence tools and major improvements to Siri, making it one of Apple’s most significant software upgrades in recent years.
The biggest highlight of iOS 27 is the enhanced Siri experience, powered by Apple Intelligence. Siri can now better understand natural conversations, remember context across requests and perform more complex tasks across supported apps. Users can also type to Siri, edit requests more easily and receive more personalised responses.
Apple has also refreshed the iPhone’s design with subtle visual changes, smoother animations and improved customisation options. The Phone, Messages and Camera apps have received updates aimed at making everyday use simpler and more intuitive. Notifications and widgets have also been refined for a cleaner user experience.
The update includes new AI-powered writing tools that can rewrite, summarise and proofread text, along with smarter image features and improved search capabilities across the device. Privacy remains a key focus, with Apple saying many AI features are processed directly on the device, while more advanced requests are handled through its secure Private Cloud Compute system.
The public beta is available through Apple’s Beta Software Program and can be installed by users who register their compatible iPhones. Apple has advised users to back up their devices before installing the beta, as pre-release software may contain bugs and performance issues.
iOS 27 supports recent iPhone models, while some advanced Apple Intelligence features require newer devices with compatible hardware. Users running the beta will continue to receive updates as Apple fixes bugs and fine-tunes the software ahead of the stable release expected alongside the next iPhone lineup later this year.
