Khan Sir booked in Patna coaching centre firing case

Bihar govt plans measures after violence at Faisal Khan's coaching centre on Tuesday

A recent firing incident outside a coaching institute run by popular educator Khan Sir in Patna has triggered a major police investigation, with authorities registering a case against him and others. The Bihar government has also indicated that it may take steps to curb growing rivalry among coaching centres.

The incident took place near Khan Sir’s coaching institute in the Musallahpur area of Patna, where gunshots were fired during a confrontation. A security guard was injured and later taken to hospital for treatment. Police launched an immediate investigation and increased security in the area.

According to police, an FIR has been registered against Khan Sir, whose real name is Faisal Khan, along with several others in connection with the incident. Authorities have also booked the owner of another coaching institute and arrested multiple individuals as part of the probe. Investigators are examining whether the violence was linked to rivalry between coaching centres operating in the city.

As part of the investigation, police questioned and detained security personnel associated with Khan Sir’s institute after videos related to the incident surfaced online. Officials are reviewing CCTV footage, video clips and witness statements to establish the sequence of events and identify all those involved.

Khan Sir has alleged that rival coaching operators may have been behind the attack. He claimed that competition within the coaching industry and his efforts to provide affordable education had created tensions with other institutes. Police, however, have said that all angles are being investigated and no final conclusions have been reached.

In response, the Bihar government has said it is considering measures to regulate coaching centres more effectively and prevent such incidents from recurring. Officials stressed that ensuring student safety and maintaining public order remain top priorities as the investigation continues.
