“Jana Gana Mana” echoed in Monaco after Kush Maini’s historic Formula 2 triumph

In a landmark moment for Indian motorsport, Kush Maini created history by becoming the first Indian to win a Formula 2 race at the iconic Monaco circuit. The victory became even more special as the Indian national anthem, “Jana Gana Mana,” echoed through the streets of Monaco after the race, a first for India in Formula 2 history.

Maini produced a composed and clinical drive, maintaining control throughout the race despite the intense pressure and unforgiving nature of the Monaco street circuit. Starting strongly, he managed tyre wear efficiently and defended his lead with confidence to secure a memorable victory against a highly competitive field. As the Indian tricolour was raised during the podium ceremony, the emotional scenes marked a defining moment not only for Maini’s career but also for Indian motorsport’s growing reputation on the international stage.

Born into a racing family in Bengaluru, Kush Maini has steadily climbed the motorsport ladder over the years. He began karting at a young age before moving to international junior racing categories. Maini gained recognition after impressive performances in the Italian Formula 4 Championship and later competed in the Formula Renault Eurocup and FIA Formula 3 Championship. His consistency, racecraft and adaptability earned him attention in Europe’s highly competitive racing circuit.

In recent years, Maini emerged as one of India’s brightest motorsport prospects in Formula 2, often regarded as the final stepping stone before Formula 1. He has represented leading teams in the championship and also became associated with the Alpine Academy, further boosting his profile in global racing.

The Monaco triumph is expected to be a major turning point in his career.  With this breakthrough achievement, Kush Maini has firmly established himself as a serious contender in the world of motorsport and a new flagbearer for India on the global racing stage.
