A drone strike hit the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone in the United Arab Emirates, triggering a fire at one of the country’s important oil storage and processing facilities. Three Indian nationals working at the site were injured in the incident and were quickly taken to a nearby hospital. Officials said their injuries are not life-threatening and they are under medical care.
Emergency teams rushed to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control before it could spread further. Authorities in the UAE believe the attack is linked to ongoing regional tensions involving drone and missile activity. Some projectiles were reportedly intercepted, but one drone still managed to hit the industrial area.
The Fujairah zone is strategically important because it handles large volumes of oil and sits close to major global shipping routes. Even a limited attack in this area raises concerns about energy security and trade flows passing through the Gulf.
The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has stepped in to support the injured workers and is coordinating with UAE officials for their treatment and assistance. Meanwhile, the Indian government strongly condemned the attack.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the strike “unacceptable,” stressing that such incidents endanger innocent lives and critical infrastructure. He also reiterated India’s support for peace and stability in the region and underlined the importance of protecting international shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for global oil supply.
The incident adds to rising tensions in the Gulf, where security concerns have been growing due to increased drone and missile activity in recent weeks. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full details of the attack and those responsible.
