Noida International Airport is preparing for its commercial launch after successfully completing a series of operational trials, marking a major milestone for one of India’s largest greenfield airport projects.
Authorities said the airport recently conducted a full-scale aircraft turnaround exercise, simulating real-world operations from arrival to departure. The trial involved testing ground handling, passenger processing, baggage management, security checks and coordination among multiple agencies. Officials confirmed that the airport’s systems and infrastructure performed as expected during the exercise.
The successful completion of flight validation and operational readiness trials has cleared the way for the airport’s commercial launch, which is expected soon. Aviation authorities have granted key approvals following extensive testing of airside and terminal operations.
Located in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, the airport is expected to ease pressure on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and improve air connectivity across the National Capital Region. Once operational, it will serve passengers from western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and parts of Rajasthan.
Ahead of the launch, the airport has also witnessed growing interest from travellers. Industry surveys indicate that competitive ticket pricing and improved connectivity are encouraging passengers to consider Noida as an alternative travel hub. Several airlines have announced attractive introductory fares on routes planned from the airport, helping generate early demand.
Officials believe lower fares, reduced travel time for residents of nearby regions and modern infrastructure will make the airport a preferred choice for many passengers. The facility has been designed with a focus on efficiency, sustainability and future expansion, with plans to gradually increase passenger capacity over the coming years.
