Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to disburse incentives worth around ₹2,400 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), marking a major step in the government’s efforts to boost employment and encourage formal job creation across the country.
The incentives will be distributed during a special event at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The scheme is designed to support first-time employees entering the workforce while also encouraging employers to create additional jobs. Around 15 lakh beneficiaries are expected to benefit from the latest round of disbursements.
Under PM-VBRY, first-time employees are eligible for financial assistance of up to ₹15,000, providing support as they begin their professional careers. Employers who generate additional employment can receive incentives of up to ₹3,000 per month for each eligible new employee, encouraging sustained job creation in the formal sector.
The programme aims to promote employment generation, expand social security coverage and increase the number of workers in the formal economy. The government believes the initiative can help young job seekers find opportunities while supporting businesses that are willing to expand their workforce.
Officials said the scheme has already facilitated employment opportunities for around 15 lakh people since its launch. Incentives will be transferred directly to beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism, ensuring faster and more transparent delivery of benefits.
For many young Indians entering the job market, the financial support could provide a valuable cushion during the early stages of employment. At the same time, employers may find the incentives useful in expanding operations and hiring more workers.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen economic growth through employment-led development. As India continues to focus on job creation and workforce participation, PM-VBRY is expected to play an important role in encouraging formal employment and improving livelihood opportunities across sectors.
