Moto G Max India launch on August 14

Motorola’s new smartphone brings 7,000mAh battery, 120Hz display and Snapdragon processor

Motorola is set to launch the Moto G Max in India on August 14, adding another battery-focused smartphone to its popular G-series lineup. The company has begun revealing key details ahead of the launch, including the phone’s display, processor, camera setup, battery capacity and colour options.

The Moto G Max will be unveiled in India at noon and will be available for purchase through Flipkart. Motorola is positioning the new smartphone around long battery life and everyday performance, two areas that continue to attract buyers in India’s competitive mid-range smartphone market.

The biggest highlight of the Moto G Max is its 7,000mAh battery. The large battery is designed for users who spend long hours on their smartphones for video streaming, social media, gaming, navigation and other everyday tasks.

The phone will support 30W wired fast charging. While the charging speed is not among the fastest in the segment, the high-capacity battery could help users go longer between charges.

Powering the Moto G Max will be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset. The processor will be paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. This combination is expected to provide faster app loading, smoother multitasking and better overall responsiveness.

The smartphone will feature a 6.72-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The higher refresh rate should make scrolling through websites and social media feeds smoother and improve the viewing experience during supported games and videos.

Motorola is also focusing on the phone’s camera capabilities. The Moto G Max is expected to feature a dual-camera system on the back, led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor. It will be accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, allowing users to capture wider scenes and group photographs.

For selfies and video calls, the smartphone will reportedly come with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. Motorola is expected to offer additional camera and editing features through its software.

The Moto G Max will run Android 16 with Motorola’s Hello UI. The company is expected to provide two major Android updates and three years of security updates, giving the device a reasonable software-support cycle for its segment.

The phone will also have an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance. This should provide protection against dust and accidental water splashes during normal daily use. However, the rating does not mean the phone can be submerged in water.

Connectivity options are expected to include 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1 and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone is also expected to support dual-SIM functionality.

Motorola has revealed three colour options for the Indian market. The Moto G Max is expected to be available in Pantone Alaskan Blue, Pantone Malaga and Pantone Stargazer finishes. The colour choices are part of Motorola’s recent focus on distinctive finishes for its smartphones.

The company has not yet revealed the official India price of the Moto G Max. Pricing will be a crucial factor because the smartphone will compete in a crowded market against devices from brands such as Samsung, OnePlus, Redmi, Realme and Poco.

The Moto G Max appears to be aimed at consumers who prioritise battery endurance over premium hardware. Its 7,000mAh battery is considerably larger than what is commonly found on many smartphones, making battery life one of its strongest selling points.

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, 120Hz display and 5G connectivity are expected to complement that battery-focused approach. Together, the specifications could make the phone suitable for consumers who want a device for extended daily use without frequent charging.

Motorola’s G-series has traditionally focused on offering practical features at competitive prices. The Moto G Max follows that approach, combining a large battery with a high-refresh-rate screen, modern connectivity and a relatively capable camera setup.

The Moto G Max name has also been used for a different model in international markets, where specifications vary. The Indian version is expected to have its own hardware configuration, reflecting Motorola’s strategy of tailoring smartphones to individual markets.

The launch comes at a time when Indian smartphone buyers have become increasingly demanding about battery capacity, performance and software support. Manufacturers are competing to offer larger batteries and faster processors while keeping prices within reach of a wider consumer base.

For Motorola, the official price will determine how attractive the Moto G Max becomes against its rivals. A competitive launch price could make the large battery and 120Hz display major selling points, while a higher price could put greater pressure on the phone to justify its specifications.

The Moto G Max will officially arrive in India on August 14. With its large battery, Snapdragon processor, 120Hz display, 5G support and multiple colour choices, Motorola is hoping to attract users looking for a dependable smartphone built for long hours of everyday use.
