Free Aadhaar biometric update for age group 7–15

UIDAI waives fee for one year to help parents update fingerprints, iris scans, and photos for children

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is making it free for children aged 7 to 15 to update their Aadhaar biometric details. This includes fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs.

The update is mandatory when children turn 5 and again at 15. Parents often delay it due to confusion or cost, so UIDAI is helping by sending reminders.

Parents can visit any Aadhaar Enrolment Centre with the child’s Aadhaar number to complete the update. Accurate data is important for using Aadhaar-linked services like school admissions, bank accounts, and government benefits.

The fee waiver is valid for one year starting 1 October 2025. Parents are encouraged to update their child’s Aadhaar in time to avoid issues later.
