Rashid Khan turned down India, Australia offers

Afghanistan star says he chose loyalty to his country over chances to represent bigger cricket nations

Afghanistan cricket star Rashid Khan has revealed that he rejected offers of citizenship from India and Australia because he wanted to continue playing only for his home country.

The star spinner shared that he was given opportunities to move abroad and potentially represent other nations in international cricket. But for Rashid, leaving Afghanistan was never an option.

He said one of the approaches came during the IPL, when he was told that a senior official wanted to meet him and discuss the possibility of settling in India. Rashid said he was offered help with documents and a chance to continue his cricket journey there.

However, he politely declined.

Rashid also said a similar opportunity came from Australia, but he gave the same answer. According to him, if he could not play for Afghanistan, he would rather not play international cricket for anyone else.

His comments have won praise from cricket fans around the world, many of whom called it a strong show of loyalty and pride.

Rashid is one of the biggest names in world cricket and has played in top T20 leagues across the globe. His performances in tournaments like the IPL and Big Bash League have made him a global star.

Even with worldwide fame and opportunities, he has remained deeply connected to Afghanistan cricket. He has often spoken about wanting to inspire young players from his country and help Afghanistan grow as a cricketing nation.

Over the years, Afghanistan has made rapid progress in international cricket, and Rashid has played a huge role in that rise.

Fans say his decision shows that success abroad has not changed his commitment to where he came from.
