Xi Jinping arks communist party anniversary with unity call

Chinese leader urges unity amid growing domestic and global challenges

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on the ruling Communist Party to remain united, disciplined and adaptable as China navigates an increasingly complex global environment. Addressing celebrations marking the party’s 105th anniversary in Beijing, Xi said the country must be prepared to deal with both opportunities and challenges while continuing on its path of development.

In his speech, Xi said China is entering a period where risks and opportunities exist side by side. He urged party members to strengthen governance, improve their ability to respond to change and safeguard the country’s development goals in the face of economic pressures and an uncertain international environment.

The Chinese leader also renewed his focus on party discipline and clean governance, saying the fight against corruption must continue. He stressed that maintaining public trust and strengthening the party’s leadership are essential for ensuring long-term stability and national progress.

Xi reiterated Beijing’s position on Taiwan, calling for continued efforts toward what China describes as national reunification. While he did not announce any new policy measures, his remarks underscored Beijing’s firm stance on the self-governed island, an issue that remains a major source of tension in the region.

The speech comes as China faces several challenges, including slower economic growth, a weakening property market, demographic pressures and strategic competition with the United States. Beijing has also been working to boost domestic consumption and strengthen its technological capabilities amid continuing trade and security disputes with Western countries.

Founded in 1921, the Communist Party of China has grown into the world’s largest political party, with more than 100 million members. Xi said the party must continue evolving to meet changing times while preserving its central leadership role.

His address reinforced Beijing’s message that political stability, economic resilience and party unity will remain at the heart of China’s strategy as it seeks to expand its influence on the global stage and steer the country through an increasingly uncertain future.
