A tragic boat accident at Bargi Dam in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district has claimed at least nine lives, with rescue teams still searching for missing passengers.
The incident happened when a tourist cruise boat carrying around 30 people capsized in the Narmada river reservoir after being hit by strong winds and rough weather. The sudden change in weather left passengers little time to react as the boat quickly overturned.
Several people were rescued by locals and emergency teams, but many fell into the water during the हादसा. Rescue operations involving the police and disaster response teams are still ongoing as authorities continue to search the area.
Eyewitnesses have raised concerns about safety measures on board. Some survivors said life jackets were distributed only after the boat began sinking, pointing to possible lapses in preparedness.
Officials are also looking into whether the boat was overcrowded or if weather warnings were ignored before the trip began. An investigation has been ordered to determine the exact cause of the accident and identify any negligence.
