IRCTC launches Beta Booking website

New portal promises faster, smoother ticket reservations

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched the beta version of its new ticket booking website, aiming to make online railway reservations faster, simpler and more user-friendly. The upgraded platform is part of IRCTC’s efforts to improve the booking experience for millions of passengers who use its services every day.

The new website features a cleaner interface with a modern design, making it easier for users to search trains, check seat availability and book tickets. Navigation has been simplified so that both new and regular users can complete bookings with fewer steps.

According to IRCTC, the beta website has been designed to offer faster page loading, smoother performance and better handling of high traffic, especially during Tatkal ticket bookings when the platform experiences a surge in users. The company hopes the improved infrastructure will reduce delays and make the booking process more reliable.

Passengers can continue to access all major services available on the existing portal, including train ticket reservations, cancellations, booking history, PNR status, fare enquiries and profile management. The new platform also offers improved search options and a more organised layout to help users find information quickly.

IRCTC said the beta version has been introduced to gather user feedback before the upgraded website is rolled out more widely. During this testing phase, passengers can explore the new features while the existing website remains fully operational.

The company has also focused on improving the mobile-friendly experience, ensuring that the website works smoothly across smartphones, tablets and desktop devices. This is expected to benefit a large number of users who access IRCTC services through mobile browsers.

Officials said the new portal reflects IRCTC’s commitment to modernising digital services and providing a seamless booking experience. The improvements are expected to enhance convenience, particularly for passengers booking tickets during peak travel seasons.
