Samsung expands Galaxy AI language support

Hungarian, Malay, Polish, Thai and Vietnamese join Samsung AI tools, widening access to multilingual features

Samsung is expanding language support across its Galaxy AI features and Bixby voice assistant, making its artificial intelligence tools accessible to more users in their preferred languages. The latest update adds Hungarian and Malay to several Galaxy AI features, while Bixby gains support for Polish, Thai and Vietnamese. The expansion is aimed at making everyday smartphone tasks, from translating conversations to adjusting device settings, easier for people who prefer interacting in their own language.

Announced on October 14, the update brings new language options to Call Assist, Note Assist, Interpreter and Transcript Assist. With Hungarian and Malay added, these features now support 24 languages, allowing more users to access translation, transcription and summarisation tools on compatible Samsung Galaxy devices.

The move reflects Samsung’s effort to make AI-powered smartphone experiences more practical for users across different markets, rather than limiting advanced features to a small group of widely spoken languages.

Galaxy AI adds Hungarian and Malay

The new language support covers several features designed to help users communicate and manage information more efficiently. Call Assist includes Live Translate, which can translate phone conversations between supported languages. Interpreter helps users communicate during face-to-face conversations, while Note Assist and Transcript Assist support tasks such as organising notes, transcribing speech and summarising information.

The addition of Hungarian and Malay expands the reach of these tools, particularly for users who regularly communicate across language barriers. It can also make the features more useful for travel, work and everyday conversations.

Samsung said the additional Galaxy AI languages would roll out over the coming weeks. Some language packs can be downloaded through the Settings app, although availability may differ by device and market.

Now Nudge expands to eight more languages

Samsung is also extending language support for Now Nudge, a Galaxy AI feature that suggests relevant next steps based on the content displayed on a user’s screen.

The feature is adding Dutch, Filipino, Gujarati, Hungarian, Malay, Romanian, Swedish and Turkish, bringing its total supported languages to 24.

Now Nudge is designed to offer contextual suggestions that help users move between tasks more easily. By understanding what is displayed on the screen, it can recommend an appropriate action without requiring users to search manually through menus or applications.

The addition of Gujarati is particularly relevant to Indian users who prefer using a regional language for digital interactions. However, the new language support applies specifically to Now Nudge and should not be interpreted as confirmation that every Galaxy AI feature supports all the same languages.

Bixby adds Polish, Thai and Vietnamese

Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant is also receiving an update, with Polish, Thai and Vietnamese taking its supported language count to 12.

Bixby enables users to control supported device functions through natural conversation. Instead of remembering the exact name of a setting or navigating through multiple menus, users can describe what they want to do in their own words.

The expanded language options are intended to make this interaction more accessible to users who previously lacked support for their preferred language. Samsung said the rollout of the new Bixby languages began on October 14.

The assistant requires a Samsung Account login and an internet connection. Its available functions may vary by country, region, language and device. Samsung also cautions that recognition can vary depending on pronunciation, accent, voice level and surrounding noise.

Rollout begins across compatible Galaxy devices

The rollout will take place in stages, with Bixby’s new languages beginning first and the additional Galaxy AI languages following in the coming weeks. The precise schedule may differ according to device model and market.

Users should check their device’s software updates and language settings to determine when the new options become available. Some languages may need to be downloaded separately as language packs.

The expansion is part of Samsung’s broader effort to improve Galaxy AI and make its features useful to a wider international audience. Translation and transcription tools can help users overcome language barriers, while a more flexible voice assistant can make routine smartphone controls simpler.

The latest announcement does not mean every Samsung device will receive every feature at the same time. Availability depends on the device, software version, country and supported language.
