Six Pilgrims Killed in Mirzapur Train Accident

People died after being struck by a train while crossing tracks instead of using the foot overbridge

At least six passengers were killed after being struck by a train while crossing railway tracks at Chunar Railway Station in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. The victims were traveling from Chopan to Varanasi for a holy dip in the Ganga.

Railway officials said the passengers disembarked from the wrong side of the Chopan–Prayagraj Express (train no. 13309) and attempted to cross the main line, bypassing the available foot overbridge. While crossing, they were hit by the Netaji Express (train no. 12311) approaching from the opposite direction.

Authorities have confirmed the fatalities and are carrying out rescue and relief operations.
