Apple’s New MacBook Pro with M6 chip

New 14-inch laptop brings faster graphics, AI performance and up to 24-hour battery life.

Apple has launched its new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip, bringing faster performance, improved graphics and enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities to its professional laptop lineup. The new model targets developers, content creators and professionals who rely on powerful hardware for demanding computing tasks.

The MacBook Pro starts at ₹2,39,900 in India, while eligible education customers can purchase it at a starting price of ₹2,27,900. Pre-orders open on October 28, 2026, and sales begin on November 6 through Apple Stores and authorised resellers.

The M6 chip is the main upgrade in the new MacBook Pro. Apple says the processor delivers up to 30% faster graphics performance and up to 25% faster on-device AI performance compared with the previous-generation M5 chip. These improvements are designed to support demanding applications, including video editing, 3D rendering, image processing and software development.

The processor features a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU. Apple has also integrated Neural Accelerators into the GPU cores to improve performance in supported artificial intelligence workloads. This approach allows the laptop to handle selected machine-learning tasks more efficiently, particularly those involving image generation and AI-powered creative tools.

Apple claims the new MacBook Pro can deliver up to 13 times faster performance for selected AI language-model workloads compared with the 13-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M1 chip. However, actual performance will depend on the application, configuration and type of task being performed.

The M6 also features a dual 16-core Neural Engine for AI-related processing. On-device AI allows compatible tasks to run locally instead of relying entirely on cloud-based servers. This can reduce dependence on an internet connection for supported functions and offer additional privacy benefits when personal data is processed on the device.

The laptop starts with 16GB of unified memory and can be configured with up to 32GB. Apple says memory bandwidth reaches up to 170GB per second, helping applications access data quickly during multitasking and intensive creative work.

Battery life is another highlight. Apple rates the new 14-inch MacBook Pro for up to 24 hours on a single charge. Actual results will vary depending on applications, display brightness, network activity and other usage conditions. The improved efficiency could benefit professionals who frequently work away from power outlets.

The laptop retains its 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, which offers peak HDR brightness of up to 1,600 nits and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. A nano-texture display option is available to reduce reflections in brightly lit environments. The screen is suited to photography, video production and other work requiring detailed visuals.

Connectivity upgrades include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, provided users have compatible networks and accessories. The MacBook Pro features three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot, MagSafe 3 charging and a headphone jack. It also supports up to two external displays, giving users more flexibility when setting up a workstation.

For video calls and entertainment, Apple has included a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, a three-microphone array and a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio. The laptop supports fast charging, allowing the battery to reach 50% in approximately 30 minutes with a compatible high-wattage USB-C power adapter.

The new MacBook Pro runs macOS 27 and supports Apple’s software features for productivity and creative work. The availability of specific AI functions may vary depending on language, region and software compatibility.

Apple says the device contains 45% recycled material overall, including recycled aluminium in its enclosure and recycled cobalt in its battery. These measures support the company’s wider environmental commitments.

The M6-powered MacBook Pro is primarily an upgrade for users who need additional computing power for professional applications. Owners of older Intel-based and M1-powered MacBooks may benefit more noticeably than those using recent-generation models. For buyers, the decision will depend on whether the performance gains justify the premium price.

With faster graphics, improved AI processing, Wi-Fi 7 and extended battery life, Apple’s new MacBook Pro focuses on boosting productivity through hardware improvements. Its performance in independent tests and demanding real-world applications will help determine how significant the upgrade is for professionals.
